![]() ![]() More importantly, the aim time of artillery increases immensely from 4-7 seconds in mortars, to a whopping 30 seconds! Knowing this, why would anyone take these systems when lighter ones are far more capable? Mid-tier artillery guns, like the 55 to 75 pt range typically have much worse stats… the rate of fire drops to about 5 rounds per minute, the CEP balloons from the low CEP of mortars out to 7280m-9100m. Additionally, the CEP or mortar systems are the smallest over all support systems except the ATACMS… the average 81/82mm is 2275m CEP, the 107/120mm systems 3185m CEP, with a few being below that (Nona SVK and VPM120 for example 2370m each) Some systems like the Vasilik show 24 rpm, but fire almost 2 shells at a time for a smaller salvo. This is offset by the high rate of fire of most mortar guns which can be as high as 25 rounds per minute down to 11 rounds per minute. Mortars, compared to low-point artillery lack HE power getting 3-5 HE depending on if you choose smaller mortars versus larger ones. Their capability is even more improved due to their short range (an advantage of sorts) shortening the time it takes for the rounds to hit their target. These systems are the perfect blend of responsiveness and firepower. Ranging from low point 82/81mm options starting at 25 pts, to high end 60 pt mortars with rapid fire and aim times (4-7 seconds!!!). Mortars, for the cost, are some of the best artillery units available in game.
